Abstract

Chordoma is a very rare tumor which is considered to originate from the ectopic remnant of the primitive notochord.
The authors report a rare case of complete resection of cervical chordoma via anterior approach. A 65-year-old woman had complained of dysphagia and neck mass. Cervical chordoma was found at the level of C3 vertebra with huge prevertebral mass on magnetic resonance imaging. She underwent the operation with corpectomy of C3 and total removal of tumor mass. The spine was synthesized with an iliac autograft and supplemented with Orion plating system. The patient then underwent radiotherapy.
